Chelsea Prepare Sensational £80m Double Swoop On Premier League Rivals

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will bankroll an £80million spending spree on Tottenham Hotspur’s Luka Modric and Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez.

The Russian billionaire will offer the players, who both want to leave their clubs, the chance of fulfilling their silverware ambitions.

It is a sign of Abramovich giving his full backing to new manager Andre Villas-Boas in his attempts to win the Premier League and Champions League.

Manchester City will demand £50million for Tevez, who still has three years left on his contract.

The Argentine international has expressed his desire to leave and be closer to his family in Argentina.

But there is no club remotely near Argentina who could stump up that sort of cash – or meet his wages.

The prospect of pairing Tevez with Fernando Torres has become a possibility after Tevez hinted at the weekend he quite fancies a move to London.

A bid of £22million was offered to Spurs for Modric was branded ‘ridiculous’ by manager Harry Redknapp.

The Croatian playmaker wants to play in the Champions League and feels that is unlikely to happen again at White Hart Lane.

A second bid of more than £30million is set to be made despite Tottenham insisting he is going nowhere, according to the Daily Express.
